Respiration in Organisms
Respiration releases energy from food inside cells. It occurs in plants, animals, and microorganisms and is different from breathing, although breathing supplies oxygen and removes carbon dioxide in many organisms. Respiration may be aerobic or anaerobic depending on oxygen availability.
